About the name
Behind Paige lies Page, from the word page, a young servant. It goes back through Old French, possibly via Italian, to the Late Latin pagius, 'servant'. Some sources suggest instead the Latin pagus, 'countryside'.

A single syllable, said PAYJ, short and crisp. It has no common alternative spellings, though Page is the older form of the word.
It is used mainly in the British Isles and Canada, with its best positions in Northern Ireland, Ireland and British Columbia. It is barely used in continental Europe. Canadian records put its peak in 2003, and it is falling in most regions where it is recorded, so it is chiefly a name of the early 2000s.

Etymology
Variant of Page, from page, from Old French page, possibly via Old Italian paggio, from Late Latin pagius (“servant”), probably from Ancient Greek παιδίον (paidíon, “boy, lad”), from παῖς (paîs, “child”); some sources consider this unlikely and suggest instead Latin pagus (“countryside”), in sense of "boy from the rural regions".
