ih-LY-zuh has three syllables, with the stress in the middle. Liza is the obvious short form, and Elisa, Elise and Aliza are related names, so it sits in a wide family.
Eliza is well used in England and Wales and ranks in Northern Ireland and Scotland too. In continental Europe it has a following in Hungary and Poland. It peaked in France around 2019 and is now easing back in several countries, but it keeps a steady, classic presence where it is used.
