About the name
Eve is the name of the first woman in the Book of Genesis, and it has reached English through a long chain of languages: from Old English, from Latin Eva, from Ancient Greek, and ultimately from Biblical Hebrew. It is one of the oldest names in the Western tradition, though no meaning is attested for the English form.

Eve is particularly well used in Ireland, where it is a top-100 name, and it is also found in Northern Ireland and Scotland. It is used in Israel and France too. In France it reached its peak around 2003, and it is currently falling in more places than it is rising.
